JINING, CHINA
Jining, Shandong, China and Springfield, Illinois, USA have been sister cities since 2018. Over that time, city governments of both cities have traveled thousands of miles to visit and learn about each other's culture, history, and economy to build friendships and share ideas for collaboration.
Jining is located in North-eastern China about 580 miles south of Beijing, China. It is a mere 2.5-hour bullet train ride away from China's capital. Jining is a coal-mining city with a variety of industries, and it is mainly known for being the hometown of the great Chinese Philosopher, Confucius (Kong Zi).

Have you always wanted to visit China and experience its rich culture and history?
Sister Cities Association of Springfield (SCAS) is excited to announce the first ever civic delegation to China this Fall! This 10-day trip will take you to Beijing where the world-renowned Great Wall and Forbidden City is at, and to Jining, which is Springfield's sister city and the hometown of the great Chinese philosopher Confucius. You will be accompanied by a SCAS board member throughout the trip.
The estimated cost per person is about $3,000. This cost includes flight, hotel, visa, insurance, etc. Tentative dates are September 20 to 29. To be eligible, you must

Apply by 4/14/2025, and pay $200 deposit at time of application; Pay the full amount by 5/30/2025;

Must be 21 years old or above to participate; adults and their 15 years old or above children may apply, too. Minors must have their guardians on the trip.
